How Do I Wash a Dog Blanket?
Washing your Molly Mutt pet blanket is straightforward — just pop it in the washing machine at 30-40°C with a mild detergent. The cotton canvas top and fleece backing both handle regular washing beautifully, keeping the blanket soft and fresh without losing shape or colour. Air dry or tumble dry on low heat, and avoid bleach or harsh chemicals that could damage the fibres or fade those gorgeous patterns.
We recommend washing every 1-2 weeks, or more frequently if your dog treats the blanket as their personal mud towel after outdoor adventures. The more you wash it, the softer the cotton gets — so regular washing is actually a good thing.
Why Choose a Cotton Canvas Pet Blanket?
Most pet blankets are purely functional — utilitarian, forgettable, and not something you'd want draped over your sofa. Ours are different. The 100% cotton canvas top is the same certified non-toxic, hypoallergenic fabric we use across our entire dog bed range — breathable, gentle on sensitive skin, and free from harmful chemicals. The soft fleece backing adds warmth and comfort, making it just as appealing for a lazy Sunday on the sofa as it is for protecting your furniture the rest of the week.
Cotton also gets softer with every wash, so the longer you use it, the cosier it gets — for your dog and for you.
What Size Pet Blanket Do I Need?
We offer two sizes to cover most situations. The small (142 x 122 cm) works well for armchairs, car seats, or smaller sofas — and is a great option for cats or small to medium dogs. The large (183 x 132 cm) is ideal for bigger sofas, larger breeds, or anyone who likes a generous drape over the furniture.
Not sure which to choose? Think about where you'll use it most. If it's mainly for a single armchair or your dog's favourite corner of the sofa, the small is usually enough. If you want to cover a full two or three seater — or your dog is the sprawling type — go large. When in doubt, size up.
